The data of all registered Namibia Arabian horses and their
extended pedigrees were obtained from the various volumes of
South African studbooks and in accordance with WAHO,
in 2000,
Namibia had to publish the first
volume of its own studbook. With the assistance of Mr Bern von
Kunow, Volume 1 of the Studbook saw the light on the 15th
of August 2001, it contained the information of 432 horses.
Since the 15th of August to date, 1011 horses have
been entered in the Namibian Studbook.
A horse will only be eligible for registration
if:
a) A Stallion, Mare, Gelding for Foal traces in
all lines of its pedigree either to horses previously registered
in the Namibian Arabian Stud Book or the Arabian Stud Book of
South Africa (SASB), or in the case of imported horses to
animals listed in the acceptedbooks of the WAHO Definition at
the time of registration.
b) Both the sire and dam were over the age of 24
months at the time of service and DNA typed.
c) The breeder is a fully paid up member of the
Society.
